You are warmly invited to join us in ceremony as we gather to honor the ancestors, those who have walked before us and whose wisdom, love and spirit continue to live within the depths of our being.
In the tradition of many cultures, the ancestors are not regarded as gone, but as a part of an ever-present web of relationships. They are remembered, honored, and invited to remain close, not simply as figures of our past but as sources of wisdom, support and blessings.
As we gather for the ceremony, we enter into that ancient relationship of remembrance and gratitude. We will begin with the creation of an ancestor altar, acknowledging those whose lives made our own life possible, our blood ancestors and those spiritual ancestors whose teachings and support helped to shape the paths we walk today. You are each invited to bring a photograph or meaningful object of an ancestor or two whose spirit you wish to honor to be placed on an altar.
After that, we will create an Andean Despacho, a sacred offering of prayer-infused items representing the animal, plant, metal and human kingdoms. Once completed, we will ceremonially bundle the ingredients and offer it to a sacred fire.
The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, October 31st beginning at 12 noon in our ceremonial lodge. Our address is: 1631 Deetz Road, Mt. Shasta.
Following the ceremony we will host a pot-luck meal.
Please RSVP by Monday, October 26th along with the food item you intend to contribute.
With blessings,
Ray and Valerie
